Is Your Fireplace Ready for Winter?

Most fireplaces sit unused for months. Before you rely on yours again, it's worth having someone look it over — not because something is wrong, but so you know it's in good shape before the first cold night. Our $59 inspection is built for exactly that: a simple pre-season check so you can light a fire with peace of mind.

Inspections for Every Type of Fireplace

The standard $59 inspection covers all three across Dallas–Fort Worth, TX.

Wood-Burning

The classic real-wood fireplace and its chimney. We look over the firebox, flue and exterior so you know it's ready before you light the first fire of the season.

Gas

Gas and direct-vent fireplaces. We check the general condition of the unit and venting so you know where things stand before you rely on it this winter.

Electric

Electric fireplaces and inserts. A straightforward check of the unit's condition and surround so you can enjoy it with peace of mind.

What the Inspection Looks At

A general look over the key parts of your chimney and fireplace. We'll walk you through what we find.

  • The firebox and, on wood-burning systems, the flue for creosote, soot and blockages
  • The chimney crown, cap and flashing — the parts that keep rain and animals out
  • The exterior masonry, mortar and chimney structure for visible cracks or damage
  • The damper and general condition of the fireplace so you know how it's working

Who Should Book One

An inspection makes sense when:

  • You want to make sure everything is ready before winter and fireplace season
  • You just bought or are selling a home with a fireplace
  • It's been a year or more since your chimney was last looked at
  • You've noticed something feels off — a smell, a draft, or staining — but nothing is obviously broken

Chimney & Fireplace Inspection FAQs

What's the difference between a chimney inspection and a chimney sweep?

An inspection is a look-over: our technician checks the condition of your chimney and fireplace and tells you what they find. A sweep is the actual cleaning — removing creosote, soot and debris from a wood-burning flue. Our $99 sweep includes a free inspection; the $59 inspection is for when you just want it checked, not cleaned.

Does a wood-burning fireplace need an inspection before winter?

It's a good idea to have a wood-burning fireplace and chimney looked over once a year, ideally before you start using it for the season. Our $59 inspection is designed exactly for that pre-winter check.

Do gas and electric fireplaces need inspection too?

Yes — the $59 inspection covers wood-burning, gas and electric fireplaces. If a gas or electric unit isn't working and needs a diagnosis, that's our separate $89 gas/electric fireplace diagnostic instead.

Is the $59 inspection the same as a Level 2 inspection?

No. The $59 inspection is a standard visual check of the accessible parts of your chimney and fireplace. A Level 2 inspection ($149) is more detailed and includes a video scan of the inside of the flue — often needed for a home sale or after a chimney fire or similar event.

What happens if you find a problem?

We'll tell you honestly what we found and what your options are. If a repair is needed, we can give you a free estimate — there's no pressure and no obligation.

How long does an inspection take?

Most standard inspections are quick — typically under an hour, depending on access and the type of system. We'll give you a clear picture of where things stand before we leave.
